Technical Designer  09/03 – Present

Create complete drawing packages in AutoCAD 2010 incorporating company standards for GMD (Ground-Based Missile Defense) programs within the Facilities, Engineering & Construction Department.  Support project engineers & administrators with field assignments in locations such as Huntington Beach, CA, Vandenburg Air Force Base, CA, Huntsville, AL and Ft. Greely, AK. Responsible for 3 year project of SBX (Sea-Based X-Band Radar) program laying out cable routing of telecommunication equipment within cabinets in equipment rooms and preparing As-Built drawings when the project was over. Daily duties include: proofread and comment on Scope of Work, procedures and specifications  to our customers; prepare FedEx overnight shipments of cd’s, drawings and transmittal letters; assemble story boards for review of materials to be used; prepare material takeoff’s, cost estimates and purchase orders to receive parts to ship to project site; file vendor cut sheets for reference; order supplies; run WebEx during staff meetings; plot drawings; utilize Microstation when needed to support design efforts for the Huntsville team; provide Autocad 3D animations to potential customers for better visual during the proposal effort. Currently delving heavily into 3ds Max software to cultivate capabilities as a designer to be able to prepare walk thru renderings or fly over’s. My goals are to become certified in Project Management and  learn RS Means software.

Contract CAD Designer (through Superior Design) 4/03-9/03

Supported the design of the SBX Radome Shelter.  Worked in 3D to design supports for the grating on each level and all aspects of the Access Stairs and Ladder Installation; detailed the cable tray routing and the hemp shield weldments underneath the Radome covering.

AutoCAD 2002 Adjunct Instructor 08/02 – 05/04

Developed a course of action for students to actively learn the basics of drafting while using the AutoCAD 2002 software.  Worked up drawing projects and tests to reflect similar environments in industry.  Utilized Power Point for class presentations, gave related web sites, brought in guest speakers, and used a “hand on” approach to students seeing a finished product.  Distributed sample drawings and examples of sectioned or finished machine parts to make the classroom environment more interesting.  Showed how obstacles could arise from sloppy work and carelessness and students were encouraged to ask questions.  Taught students how to do the job right the first time.

Interfaced with telecom customers and installation site supervisors, scheduled and traveled  to site surveys, designed floor layouts and ordered transmission equipment to be installed.  Worked closely with Quoting Department to insure cost stayed within budget.  Sent customers complete sets of As-Builts once the job was complete.  Trained and learned provisioning on 1630, 1631, 1680 and SONET systems.  Sole person responsible for the Motorola customer interface once transferred to Switch Engineering department.

Senior Designer 01/97 – 01/01

Created and modified complete drawing packages of telecommunication transmission equipment utilizing AutoCAD 14 software.  Worked closely with Project Engineers to develop site drawings, towers, electronic rack equipment, power wiring details and floor plans of equipment rooms.

Assigned to a three month contract that extended to one year working on three 34 Meter Satellite Earth Stations for the G.O.I. (Government of Israel) Project.  Created installation, assembly and detail drawings on AutoCAD 12 of large weldments and access stairways.

Worked with construction contractors and Field Superintendents on projects such as the LA Library in Los Angeles, CA., the UTMB Hospital in Galveston, TX., the JC Penny Mail Delivery System in Plano, TX, and Ticket Delivery System in the Denver Airport in Denver, CO.
